Image Converters
Convert an image from one format to another online, free and without installing anything: HEIC to JPG, PNG to JPG, WebP to PNG, SVG to PNG and more. Some converters run entirely in your browser; others need our server because browsers cannot read or write the format, and those delete your upload as soon as it is processed.
From HEIC
HEIC converters
Convert HEIC and HEIF photos to JPG so any device can open them — iPhone photos and .heif files alike. Free, no account, files deleted immediately.
Convert iPhone HEIC photos to lossless PNG. Best when you plan to edit the image. Files are deleted immediately after conversion.
Convert iPhone HEIC photos to WebP for the web. Keeps most of HEIC's size advantage, unlike JPG. Files deleted immediately after conversion.
Convert iPhone HEIC photos to PDF documents. Ideal for photographed paperwork that has to be submitted as a PDF.
Convert iPhone HEIC photos to BMP for software that cannot open HEIC. A 12-megapixel photo becomes about 36.6 MB — here is why, and when JPG is enough.
Convert iPhone HEIC photos to TIFF for editing and print. 10-bit colour becomes genuine 16-bit TIFF, and location metadata is removed.
Convert iPhone HEIC photos to AVIF for the web. The formats are close relatives: expect about 44% smaller files, 10-bit colour kept and location data removed.
From PNG
PNG converters
Convert PNG to JPG free, with no sign-up. Choose the quality, pick a background colour for transparent areas, and download instantly.
Convert PNG to WebP and keep full transparency. Typically 25–50% smaller than PNG. Free, with no sign-up.
Convert PNG to AVIF and cut file size dramatically while keeping transparency. Often the largest saving available for a PNG.
Convert PNG to a proper multi-size ICO containing 16, 32, 48 and 256 pixel versions. Transparency preserved.
Turn PNG images into PDF documents with no quality loss. Ideal for screenshots and diagrams that need to be submitted as documents.
Convert PNG to GIF. The file gets smaller, but PNG has 256 levels of transparency and GIF has one — which is what causes jagged edges.
Convert PNG to BMP. Pixels stay identical; compression, transparency and metadata go. A photo PNG grows 21% — a simple graphic can grow 278 times.
Convert PNG to TIFF for print and publishing workflows. Pixels, transparency and 16-bit depth all come across. How to get the print resolution right first.
From JPG
JPG converters
Convert JPG images to lossless PNG, free and with no sign-up. Understand when converting helps, and when it just makes a bigger file.
Convert JPG photographs to WebP, free and with no sign-up. Typically 25–35% smaller at the same visible quality.
Convert JPG photos to AVIF and cut file size by half or more at the same visible quality. The most efficient image format in common use.
Convert JPG to lossless TIFF for printers and publishers. Read first: converting does not improve the image, and the file gets much larger.
Turn JPG photos into PDF documents. The JPEG is embedded exactly as it is, so nothing is re-compressed and no quality is lost.
Convert JPG to a multi-size ICO icon. Honest about the two things JPEG cannot do for an icon, and what to use instead.
Convert JPG to GIF. Measured: the file roughly doubles and the colours get worse. Here is when it is still the right thing to do.
Convert JPG to BMP for software that needs bitmaps. The file grows about 7.5 times, and every JPEG artefact comes with it. What BMP can and cannot do.
From WEBP
WEBP converters
Convert WebP images to JPG so any program can open them. Choose a background for transparent areas. Free, with no sign-up.
Convert WebP to PNG and keep full transparency. Lossless output that opens in any program. Free, with no sign-up.
Convert WebP to AVIF for a further 20-30% size reduction. Keeps transparency — but read first, because this is not always worth doing.
Convert animated WebP to animated GIF for apps and platforms that accept nothing else. Every frame is preserved.
Turn WebP images into PDF documents. Nothing is re-encoded, which is why the PDF is larger than the WebP — explained, with what to do about it.
Convert WebP to a multi-size ICO icon with transparency preserved. What happens to animated WebP, and how to get a sharp result.
Convert WebP to BMP for software that cannot open WebP. Expect a much larger file — about ten times for a photo — and see what happens to transparency.
Convert WebP to TIFF when a printer or publisher asks for it. About eight times larger, transparency kept — and how to tell if a web image will print well.
From AVIF
AVIF converters
Convert AVIF images to JPG so older software can open them. Free, no sign-up, and it works the same on every phone and computer.
Convert AVIF to lossless PNG with transparency preserved. Best before editing, at the cost of a much larger file.
Convert AVIF images to PDF documents. Expect the file to grow: PDF has no AVIF support, and here is exactly why and by how much.
Convert AVIF to GIF. The widest format gap there is: expect the file to triple and the colours to drop to 256. When it is still worth doing.
Convert AVIF to BMP for software that cannot read AVIF. A photo grew about 15 times in testing. What survives from AVIF, and what BMP cannot hold.
Convert AVIF to TIFF for editing, print and archiving. 10-bit AVIF becomes 16-bit TIFF and transparency is kept. About ten times larger for photos.
Convert AVIF to WebP for wider compatibility. Expect a larger file — about 44% for a photo in testing — with transparency kept. When the trade is worth it.
From SVG
SVG converters
Convert SVG to PNG at any resolution, with transparency preserved. Rendered from the vector so edges stay crisp at every size.
Convert SVG to JPG at any resolution and pick the background colour for transparent areas. Rendered from the vector for crisp edges.
Convert SVG to WebP at any resolution with transparency preserved. Smaller than PNG, crisper than JPG for graphics.
Convert SVG to PDF. Honest about what this does: the vector is rasterised, not preserved. Includes how to get a true vector PDF if you need one.
Convert SVG to a multi-size ICO. Every size is drawn from the original vector, so even the 16-pixel version is genuinely sharp.
Convert SVG to BMP at 512 to 4096 pixels wide. The width decides both sharpness and file size — a 226-byte SVG became 2.1 MB at 1024 px.
Render SVG artwork to a transparent TIFF for print and layout software, at up to 4096 pixels. How to pick the width for your print size.
Render SVG to AVIF with transparency: about 4 KB for a logo at 1024 px, a quarter of the PNG. How clean the edges stay at each quality setting.
From GIF
GIF converters
Convert animated GIF to animated WebP. Every frame is preserved, and files are typically 60-90% smaller with better colour.
Convert GIF to PNG without losing a pixel. Takes the first frame of an animation, and keeps transparency.
Convert GIF to PDF. An animated GIF becomes a flip-book with one page per frame; a still GIF becomes a single page. How to get just one frame.
Convert GIF to JPG. A photo saved as GIF gets smaller; a logo or diagram gets larger and softer. How to tell which one you have.
Convert GIF to AVIF, typically 70–85% smaller. Why the quality setting matters for photo GIFs and not for graphics. Animation is not kept — use GIF to WebP.
Convert GIF to BMP for legacy software. Expect a far larger file with identical pixels — a 3.5 KB GIF became 720 KB. Why, and when it is worth it.
Convert GIF to lossless TIFF, with transparency kept. Why it will not make a web graphic print-ready, and what happens to animated GIFs.
From BMP
BMP converters
Convert BMP images to JPG. BMP stores images uncompressed, so the saving is usually enormous — often 95% or more.
Convert BMP to PNG with no quality loss at all. Typically 70-90% smaller, and perfect for screenshots and pixel art.
Convert BMP images to PDF. The document usually comes out around 30% smaller than the BMP, with every pixel preserved.
Convert BMP to a multi-size Windows ICO icon. The two formats share a lineage, which explains what carries across and what does not.
Convert BMP to GIF. Measured 82% smaller, and for the flat graphics BMPs usually contain, often with no visible loss at all.
Convert BMP to lossless TIFF. Every pixel kept, and the file shrinks — 29% for a photo, 99% for a simple graphic. Ideal for archiving old bitmaps.
Convert BMP to AVIF, the most efficient web image format. A photo shrank 89% and a simple graphic 99.9% in testing. When to choose WebP or PNG instead.
Convert BMP to WebP free, with no sign-up. About 89% smaller for a photo and over 99% for a simple graphic.
From TIFF
TIFF converters
Convert TIFF scans and print files to JPG. CMYK is converted to sRGB properly, so colours look right rather than inverted.
Convert TIFF to PNG without losing a pixel. Keeps transparency and 16-bit depth, and opens where TIFF will not.
Convert TIFF to PDF, including multi-page scans. A three-page TIFF becomes a three-page PDF, with nothing re-encoded.
Convert TIFF to GIF. Both formats hold multiple images but mean different things by it — a multi-page TIFF gives you page one only.
Convert TIFF to BMP. Unusually, the file often shrinks — up to half for 16-bit images. What BMP drops: CMYK, extra bit depth, pages and transparency.
Convert TIFF to AVIF for the web: about 88% smaller, transparency kept, and 16-bit images kept at 12 bits rather than cut to 8. What happens to CMYK and pages.
Convert TIFF to WebP for the web: about 89% smaller, transparency kept, quick to create and widely supported. What happens to 16-bit, CMYK and multi-page TIFFs.
From ICO
ICO converters
Convert Windows ICO files to PNG, keeping transparency. Extracts the largest image the icon contains.
Extract the largest image from an ICO file as a JPG. Honest about what JPEG costs you here, and when PNG is the better choice.
Extract an ICO to WebP with transparency intact. The smallest of the three options, and the right one for putting old icon artwork on a website.
Extract an ICO to BMP for legacy tooling. Counter-intuitively the closest format is the one that discards the most — here is why.
